Family of Things was founded by Sara Jacobson to support and promote beautiful objects, along with the stories of their origins, materials and creators. With a Masters in Designed Objects from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sara became well-acquainted with the history of design, the process of making, and the value of craft and the creator. After living in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco for 13 years, frequenting design shops to collect & gift well-made objects in those cities and during frequent travel, she saw an opportunity to bring the concept for Family of Things back to her hometown of Omaha.

Family of Things is based in Omaha, NE and first opened in 2021 in the beautiful historic Little Bohemia neighborhood. At the end of 2024, the shop is moving to focus online, pop-ups, and gifting services. Please get in touch if you'd like to collaborate!
