Background

Family of Things was founded by Sara Jacobson to support and promote considered, well-crafted design objects and tools for living and creativity. 

She believes in highlighting beautiful objects, along with the stories of their origins, materials and creators. She aims to create a welcoming and accessible space in Omaha, NE for anyone interested in our Family of Things.

Sara Jacobson has had extensive experience in the design industry, along with curating, writing and retail – all of which inform the concept and creation of a focused design shop. With a Masters in Designed Objects from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sara became well-acquainted with the history of design, the process of making, and the value of craft and the creator. After living in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco for 13 years, frequenting design shops selling well-made objects in those cities and during frequent travel, she saw an opportunity to bring a unique concept back to her hometown of Omaha.
